Women would rather emulate the modern look of stars such as Jennifer Aniston and Kate Winslet than the old Hollywood glamour of Marilyn Monroe, according to a study.

Monroe had long been considered the benchmark of glamour, but she has been superseded by the girl next door  look.

Hollywood beauties such as Winslet, Aniston, Cameron Diaz and Rachel McAdams beat the classical looks of Elizabeth Taylor and Monroe in a poll  by Venus Embrace.

According to the survey, women find it easier to copy the look of modern actresses rather than old beauties of 60's, 70's and 80's.

Dark hues elongate the body, esp the legs. Pair black or dark denim jeans with heels to add height. An all black outfit can easily be transformed from day to night. Black and navy work well as the base for an outfit, then you can add accessories around that.

COLOUR

Wearing dark tones head to toe can make you look like you're going to a funeral. There are different tones of black and navy, so pairing faded textures can look mismatched. Black and navy can be high maintenance beacause they're magnets for peices of thread and fluff.

Sultry actress, Scarlett Johansson turned several heads the other night at the Moet & Chandon 'Tribute to Cinema' event in Tokyo with her dramatic sideswept, short textured bob created by celebrity hairdresser David Babaii.

Here, David spills his secrets on how to recreate Scarlett's look just for you.

Jennifer Aniston sits on rocks for new fragrance

Jennifer Aniston has launched a new fragrance, ''Lolavie'' - which we suspect is going to give the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker a run for their female fanbase money.

The name Lolavie, which roughly translates from French as ''laughing at life,'' was chosen by Jen herself who says, '' the long story behind it is and honesty it is too personal to tell.''

As for sitting on those rocks? It's just part of the creative journey Jen has been heavily involved in over the last year and a half.

''It wasn't just about showing up for a shoot and putting my name on a bottle,'' she said.

''I felt like a little chemist. It's turned out to be an extension of myself as opposed to slapping my name on something.''

After conquering the fragrance world, Jen announced she plans to start directing.

The Twilight Star- R-Patz's Nirvana

Robert Pattinson has landed his dream film role -playing Kurt Cobain in a Hollywood biopic.

The Twilight Star has always thought of himself as a musician rather than an actor and has even said his guitar is his best friend.

So playing the tragic Nirvana genius who shot himself in 1994, is perfect for the pin-up.

R-Patz has been in regular contact with Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, who's been handed a key prodiction role by Universal Pictures bosses.
